Neuwied has had a market charter since 1662 and on the second weekend in October we celebrate this with a wide range of market stalls and food and drink. Luisenplatz square is filled with the fruits of autumn and is a delight for the senses. A special highlight is the "Ehrengarde" carnival club and re-enactment group in historical uniform which transforms part of the square into a bivouac.
